Owner and Creator of EquineAssistedCareers.com
Pam Salem is a lifelong horsewoman, educator, and respected leader in the equine-assisted learning field, bringing decades of hands-on experience as a breeder, competitor, and facilitator. A founding member of the Equine Experiential Education Association (E3A) and former Regional Vice President of the Tennessee Horse Council for over 15 years, she has played a meaningful role in shaping and advancing the industry.
Since 2000, Pam has co-facilitated equine-assisted programs alongside licensed therapists, combining her background in education and business with a deep understanding of the horse-human connection to support personal growth and healing. She also developed and leads an equine interaction program at a residential recovery center in East Tennessee, where more than 14,000 individuals have participated in transformative experiential learning since 2010.
Grounded in the belief that “horses being horses help humans be better humans,” Pam’s work reflects a lifelong commitment to fostering authentic connection, self-awareness, and lasting change through the presence of horses.

HANDS-ON CAREER EXPERIENCE:
Since arriving in 1998 and watching the equine assisted field develop, I have benefited from working consistently in it, first with a PhD psychologist psychotherapist for 7 years and then for 16 years in a program created with an accredited activity therapist at a residential recovery center where I do two sessions, once a week. So that is now 2 x 52= 104 x 15 yrs = 1,560 sessions, with an average of 6 per one session and 12 per the other that is an average of 18 people per week. 52 weeks x 15 years = 780 weeks x 18 people average = 14,040 humans. I respect scientific rigor and its discipline…just don’t get lost in it. Get lost in the company of horses, and you will learn what you can help others benefit from experiencing. Pam Salem resides in Seymour, Tennessee.
